Planned Service and Maintenance Programme

Just like a car, all machinery requires regular servicing and maintenance. It also requires specific attention and care at different stages throughout its lifetime.

Our experienced service team will create a tailored service and maintenance plan to suit your business, equipment and working conditions. Planned maintenance aims to diminish downtime completely and can include adjustments, cleaning, calibration, repairs and replacements.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) 

1. How long does a service take?

This will depend on what tasks are required to be performed. Typically a 3 monthly service for SMT equipment would take around 4 hours per machine. An annual service including calibration would typically take around 8 to 12 hours per machine.

2. What does it include?

Servicing of SMT equipment typically consists of vacuum cleaning the machine interior, cleaning or replacing fan filters, cleaning or replacing vacuum filters, cleaning and inspecting nozzles. The moving parts such as shafts, guides and bearings will be cleaned, inspected and lubricated. 

3. Do I need to order parts in advance?

Due to restrictions on Hand Carrying parts overseas and air transport of flammable/dangerous goods you may need to order parts in advance. This will be discussed with you when arranging a service.

4. How far in advance do I have to book it? 

It is advisable to book a service as far in advance as possible. Around 3-4 weeks in advance for a routine service is usually enough notice. For an annual service and calibration it is best to book in early, we have some customers booking 3-6 months in advance for Christmas/New Year shutdowns. 

5.  Will I get a logbook? 

We do not provide logbooks, however you will be provided with a service report detailing the work performed. It is a good idea to file these and keep near the machine. 

6. Will I get reminders? 

 If you decide that you want to have your machines serviced on a regular basis we will provide you with a reminder, we will then agree on a mutually acceptable time to provide the service. 

7. How often do I need to service my system?

A lot will be dependant on the type of equipment, how often it is being used and the environment it is being operated in.  A machine used for 3-4 hours a day will need less maintenance than a machine used for multiple shifts.  A machine used in a clean room will need less frequent maintenance than a machine used in a dusty factory environment. We will work with you to determine a cost effective service interval. Typically 3 monthly is adequate for most SMT machines. Can I service the system my service? Dependant on your skills and resources you can certainly service your own machine.  You may prefer to do all the servicing with the exception of an annual service and a calibration, we would be happy to discuss this with you and possibly provide training for your personnel. 

8. Why does the system need servicing so frequently? 

Machines need to be cleaned and lubricated regularly, dust will accumulate on various parts of the equipment and will accelerate wear of moving parts. Lubricants will dry out or deteriorate over a period of time this also results in accelerated wear of moving parts. In the case of X-Ray equipment maintenance of the high voltage cables must be performed regularly to prevent the possibility of arcing that will permanently damage the high voltage cable. Open tube X-Ray equipment will also need regular maintenance of the tube walls, filament and target, this is essential for optimum performance and image quality.  

9. Can I save money by getting more than one machine serviced during the same visit?  

Depending on your location it could be advantageous to have multiple machines serviced on the one visit. For overseas and interstate customers it certainly saves on the cost of multiple airfares and the cost of travel time.
